What's New in 2024
This year, your Statman team has continued to make the Statman tool more accurate and easier to use. Instead of another complex feature, this year's updates were focused on making Statman more efficient.
- Eliminated the Start Macro – you’ll remember this as the big red button on the start of each Game file. This makes the files larger but reduces the number of macros in the program.
- Cleaned up our instructions to address specific situations that we’ve heard from you (on our Facebook group, and directly), on “How do you handle that!?”
- Eliminated an error on the tweets for penalties during a punt return
- Fixed the “Our/Their Plays" data to include all offensive plays (some were missing). This in particular is a key input into analysis of team and player effectiveness. We’ve begun work on analytics with Statman and hope to release a beta on that next year. If you’re reading this and have suggestions about what would be valuable, please write us.
- Fixed an error on “goal-to-go” plays where the distance is outside the 10-yard line.
- Eliminated an Overtime error in our Error checking, so we don’t send an error message that’s incorrect. As long as we’re mentioning overtime, if you’ve used Statman for a game that went into overtime, please write and let us know how that went.
- Eliminated a bug the prevented importing a MaxPreps roster.
- Fixed an error that was produced from the rules change that allowed players to wear the number 0.
- Cleaned up how team colors are set changed in individual games and specific worksheets.
- Implemented a Facebook group suggestion that clarified yards on special teams returns.
- Fixed an error on how summary stats were displayed.
- Eliminated minor, needless code which slowed Statman down, all of which should make Statman even easier for you to use.
- A lot of other minor formatting, font, and similar cleanups.
As usual, Statman Football contains a schedule/results procedure, multiple report printing, efficient stats output, season stats capability, tons of offensive stats options, detailed special teams stats, an optional defensive stats section, complete play-by-play (with drive summaries), a scoring summary, drive charts, and much more! You can choose between 3 versions . . . the season stats version, the single game (media) version, or the 80-yard season stats version. We also have an optional service plan.
These updates over the years will continue to allow users to achieve maximum output with minimum input. The premise of Statman has remained the same since its inception in 2001 ... entering basic play-by-play information into an Excel spreadsheet to achieve detailed statistics in report or html form.

I will also update the Statman Facebook page when the new release is available.
