Traveling Challenge Cup Help Page

The Traveling Challenge Cup is a combined, statewide, year-long competition among all member high schools of the IHSAA, IHSSA, IGHSAU and IHSMA. Schools will be divided in to the four class format used for State Basketball Competition.

Any event that is sanctioned by the IHSAA, IHSSA, IGHSAU and IHSMA is eligible to be included. Points are awarded to the schools based on their participation for a State Championship in athletics, music, speech, debate and each individual teams academic accomplishments in the classroom whether they make it to a State Tournament or not.

The school in each class that earns the most points at the end of the year will receive a Traveling Challenge Cup to display permanently in their school. In addition, a $1,500.00 donation will be given to each school and shall be used towards enhancing the academic learning components that are now available within the entire school system for all students.

The Iowa High School Sports Network will post the standings on the IHSSN Website under so schools and students can monitor their point totals.

Program will begin September 1 of each year and end August 15th of each year. All points must be submitted no later than midnight of August 15th. Award winners will be announced in late August. Recognition ceremonies with local media, Bank Iowa Representatives and IHSSN Representatives will be held in the fall at each school. These award ceremonies will be filmed and played back during the state championships on the LED displays and on the television broadcasts where applicable.
